PRICE INCREASE
Despite notifying the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths, and Marriages of the ongoing number of errors and record omissions in the Historic records used by Family Historians, they have ignored all of these issues. In the past the Department has continued to liaise with VAFHO (Victorian Association of Family History Organisations) and VAFHO has assisted them since Febuary 2019 to sort out these errors and omissions.
A new liaison person has taken over since our last liaison person left in mid-April, the department has refused to communicate with us completely.
All family historians know that it is impossible to use the online Marriage search – NO Places of Birth are included.
More than 18,000 entries are missing from the online system since the ‘update’ in Feb 2019 and / or cannot be purchased. If you can’t find or select these entries, you can’t purchase them! Basically EVERY entry – birth, death or marriage – that had any sort of alpha character added to the registration number, cannot be purchased because ALL alpha characters were deleted.
That’s just the start of the problems!
So the Registry of BDMs have ignored all communications since mid April and they have INCREASED THE PRICES of our historic certificates, despite the errors!
Downloaded historical digital images have been increased from $20 to $22.
Family Historians need to unite in our protests.

Nice work Susie. What about a petition?

I think that’s an excellent idea – it just needs someone to do it. I can’t start one as I have already been the main communicant! Please feel free to start one.
